Adoore's side: 'A 43-billion-won damages lawsuit won't affect Daniel's entertainment activities… The decision is up to him'

[SPOTV News=Jeong Hyewon reporter] HYBE subsidiary ADOR refuted claims that it delayed a damages lawsuit seeking around 43 billion won that it filed against former NewJeans member Daniel, his family, and former ADOR CEO Min Heejin (current OK Records CEO).

ADOR said at the damages lawsuit hearing preparation session held on the morning of the 26th at the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 31 (Chief Judge Nam Insu), "This damages lawsuit and liquidated damages do not dictate Daniel's entertainment activities."

Daniel's side argued, "This case was brought by the plaintiff," saying that if a termination notice was issued, the plaintiff should already have the reasons for termination and supporting evidence. They also requested that, since three months have passed since the lawsuit began, the plaintiff submit the necessary materials and present a schedule for hearing dates so the defendant can rebut.

In response, ADOR countered, calling it a "damages and liquidated damages lawsuit" and argued that whether Daniel engages in entertainment activities is a matter for him to decide, not determined by this case.

Daniel's side again pushed back, saying the plaintiff would raise objections if Daniel resumes activities.

Last December, ADOR filed a damages lawsuit and terminated Daniel's exclusive contract. At the time, ADOR said it would hold one member of Daniel's family and former CEO Min legally responsible, stating they bore significant responsibility for causing the dispute and for NewJeans' departure and delayed return.

Earlier, NewJeans members had demanded the reinstatement of former CEO Min, who was dismissed amid conflicts with HYBE, but their demands were not accepted, and they claimed that the contract was terminated in November 2024 due to ADOR's breach of the exclusive contract. ADOR filed a suit in December of the same year to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract, arguing the contract remained valid, and the court ruled that the contract was valid.

Afterward, Haerin and Hyein announced their return through ADOR, Hani also joined, and Minji was reported to be discussing a return. However, attention has focused on the fact that ADOR notified the termination of Daniel's exclusive contract.
