最佳游览时间
The best time to visit Buan Byeonsan Peninsula is late afternoon. In particular, around sunset is most recommended, as it is great for enjoying the seaside scenery at the same time.
However, the Chaeseokgang area is accessible only during low tide twice a day, so be sure to check the tide schedule before visiting. For example, around 4:00 p.m., it may be close to high tide and difficult to approach, while a time slot around 5:00 p.m. when the water has receded more may be more suitable.
The best seasons are spring and autumn. The weather is relatively mild and comfortable for walking. Summer weekends and holidays tend to be crowded, while weekdays are relatively less busy.
To sum up, late afternoons on weekdays in spring and autumn are the best times to visit.
建议游览时长
If you only tour the main highlights, about 1 hour is enough for Byeonsan Peninsula. If you include the Masil-gil trail or a coastal walk, about 2 hours is usually appropriate. If you want to see nearby attractions such as Chaeseokgang and Jeokbyeokgang as well, it is more relaxed to set aside half a day to a full day, and some coastal sections involve slopes, so senior travelers should allow extra time.
交通指南
From Seoul and the metropolitan area, you cannot go directly to Byeonsan Peninsula by subway alone. The most practical method is to first take an express/intercity bus to Buan, then transfer to a local bus.
By Subway
There is no subway station that connects directly. If you are departing from Seoul, take the subway to the station with the express bus terminal, then use a bus bound for Buan. For foreign travelers, the bus + local bus combination is the most convenient.
By Bus
First, go to Buan Intercity Bus Terminal. After that, you can use Buan rural buses that go to each tourist site in Byeonsan Peninsula. Local buses are boarded at Buan City Bus Terminal, which is diagonally across from Buan Intercity Bus Terminal.
The fare is 1,000 won for adults across all sections, and 950 won when using a transportation card. Since the number of trips is limited, checking the schedule is important. Based on the information provided, the first bus is at 12:20 and the last bus is at 17:10, with some routes operating three times a day. Another notice shows buses departing Buan at 06:30, 08:20, 10:25, 13:20, 15:40, and 17:00, so be sure to check the latest timetable locally before visiting.
For the Inner Byeonsan area, the destination address is around 179-8, Junggyeri, Byeonsan-myeon, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do (Inner Byeonsan Parking Lot of Byeonsanbando National Park). Some travelers also take the bus from Naesosa to Gyeokpo.
On Foot
Long-distance access on foot is not realistic. In general, you take a bus from Buan to the main stops or parking areas of Byeonsan Peninsula, then walk only the final segment. In national park areas, it is common to walk from the stop to the entrance, so prepare comfortable shoes.
Because bus frequency is relatively low, missing a bus may mean a long wait. If your schedule is tight, taking a tourist taxi is also a good alternative.
拍照地点
- Chaeseokgang Sea Cave Photo Zone: A sea cave you reach by following the Chaeseokgang coastal walking path downhill. If you stand inside the cave and point your camera toward the sea, you can capture a composition where the cave entrance looks like the shape of the Korean Peninsula. Access and shooting are easiest during low tide, and around sunset you can get beautiful photos of the sea and the sunset reflected in puddles on the ground.
- Chaeseokgang Layered Cliff Coast: This is the representative rock cliff section of Chaeseokgang, a place to photograph the cliffs from near the coast. If you shoot while looking diagonally toward the cliff, the unique layered geological patterns stand out well. Late in the afternoon, when the light is soft, the texture of the rocks becomes especially clear.
- Intertidal Flat and Sea Reflection Area: This is the wide tidal flat and shallow-water area in front of Chaeseokgang. If you keep your composition low toward the horizon, it is great for capturing the sky and sunset reflected on the water. The best shooting time is from right after low tide until sunset.
夜景
At Buan Byeonsan Peninsula, it is nice to enjoy a quiet coastal night view. After dinner, take a light walk around the Chaeseokgang area and feel the atmosphere of the night sea. The relatively quiet surroundings create an impressive scene of lighting, the sea, and the coastline.
Buan emphasizes a night-tourism atmosphere using the spectacular West Sea coastline and the Byeonsan Peninsula National Park shoreline under the theme of 'Red Sunset, Blue Sleep.' In some spaces, lighting effects bring the walking paths and photo spots to life, and ponds or pavilions may appear even more atmospheric as the light reflects around them.
The recommended time is from just after sunset until between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. During this time, the lighting is most visible, and it is not too late, so it is convenient for walking. Special night events may vary by season, so it is best to check the latest information from Buan-gun tourism guidance or your accommodation front desk before visiting.
For foreign travelers, coastal night paths can be somewhat dark, so it is practical to wear comfortable shoes and plan transportation by taxi or private car together.
四季指南
Buan Byeonsan Peninsula has the sea, mountains, temples, and wetlands all together, so the atmosphere changes greatly with each season. If you have a short itinerary, it is best to plan your route according to the seasonal highlights.

Summer
In summer, the coastal scenery and wetland garden go well together. At Noulbit Garden, created on the tidal flats of Julpo Bay, you can enjoy seasonal flowers and summer lotus blossoms, making it a nice place for a light walk. On hot days, a coastal drive, sea-viewing, and a short itinerary that mixes indoor and outdoor stops are practical.
Autumn

At Noulbit Garden, cosmos flowers and pink muhly add to the seasonal mood and are great for photos. The cool weather makes it ideal to combine trekking, temple walks, and visits to coastal attractions.
Winter
In winter, it is nice to enjoy quiet and calm scenery. Naesosa offers a very peaceful atmosphere with snow-covered temple grounds and a fir tree forest, and Jeokbyeokgang also presents impressive scenery unique to the cold season. If you combine it with Gomso Salt Farm, you can see the winter sea and local scenery all at once. Some places may operate winter night lighting or illumination, so check the latest information before visiting.

- In winter, the sea breeze is strong, so prepare a windproof jacket and slip-resistant shoes.
- For photography, the best times are before and after sunset, especially along the coast and in wetland gardens.
- To see seasonal highlights, plan Naesosa, Jeokbyeokgang, the Gomso area, and Noulbit Garden together.
