The Name Changed from Ulgi Park in 1906 to Daewangam Park in 2004
Daewangam Park is a 942,000㎡ coastal park centered on Daewangam, also known as “Daeng Rock,” which lies offshore at the end of Deungdaesan near the lighthouse in Ilsan-dong, Dong-gu, Ulsan. Dong-gu tourism information records that the site was designated “Ulgi Park” in 1906 and renamed “Daewangam Park” in 2004.
The park’s name reflects a local legend that the queen of Silla King Munmu became a guardian dragon after her death and rested beneath a large rock in the sea off Ulsan. The large rock was therefore called Daewangam, or “Great King Rock,” which was shortened over time to “Daeng Rock,” according to the Dong-gu tourism page.

A 600 m Japanese Black Pine Path from the Entrance to Ulgi Lighthouse
The approximately 600 m section from the park entrance toward Ulgi Lighthouse is a path lined with beautiful Japanese black pines that are more than 100 years old. Dong-gu tourism information states that admission to the entire park is free, and the main contact number is 052-209-3738.
On a first visit, rather than seeing only Daewangam and turning back, it is easier to understand the terrain by following this order: entrance–Japanese black pine path–Ulgi Lighthouse–Daewangam. According to the park information, Ulgi Lighthouse is about 0.31 km away, while the Daewangam Park suspension bridge is about 0.19 km away.

The 303 m Towerless Suspension Bridge: Closures and Strong-Wind Controls Are Key
The Daewangam Park suspension bridge is a sea-crossing suspension bridge that began operation on July 16, 2021. It is known to be 303 m long and 42.55 m high. Because it has no intermediate support towers, it offers sections where the sea and rocky coast can be seen within a single view.
Operating hours for the suspension bridge are listed differently in official and public tourism information depending on when each source was updated: either 09:00–18:00 or 10:00–19:00. On the day of your visit, it is safest to reconfirm the hours in the notice on the official website. Regular closure days are the second Tuesday of every month and the day of Lunar New Year and Chuseok. The bridge may be closed during rain, strong winds, heavy rain or typhoon advisories, poor visibility caused by sea fog, or facility maintenance.

A 90–150-Minute Walk Connecting Daewangam, the Suspension Bridge, and Ulgi Lighthouse
For a short tour, allow about 90 minutes for the Japanese black pine path and Daewangam. If you connect all the way to the suspension bridge and Ulgi Lighthouse, it is better to allow two to two and a half hours. Korea Tourism Organization information introduces four walking courses in the park: the Seaside Path, Legend Rock Path, Pine Grove Path, and Four Seasons Path. Each section is approximately 1.8–3.6 km long and takes 20–40 minutes.
If you plan to cross only the suspension bridge and finish there, it is easy to miss the park’s coastal cliff terrain and the lighthouse area. Conversely, visitors with a fear of heights or those visiting on a windy day can skip the suspension bridge and prioritize the red-clay path on the Central Theme Walking Trail toward Ulgi Lighthouse.

How to Get There: Bus 5002 from Ulsan Station and Bus 1411 from Taehwagang Station
By public transportation, official information recommends taking Bus 5002 from the KTX Ulsan Station stop and getting off at Ilsan Beach. From Taehwagang Station and the Ulsan Intercity Bus Terminal, you can take Bus 1411 and get off at the Daewangam Park stop.
From Ulsan Airport, take Bus 112, 122, or 142 and get off at the Ilsan Beach stop. The park’s official address is listed as 140 Deungdae-ro, Dong-gu, Ulsan, while 95 Deungdae-ro is also shown at the bottom of the website. To avoid confusion, enter “Daewangam Park” or the parking destination “Daewangam Park Tower Parking Lot” into your navigation system.

600-Space Tower Parking Lot and the 500-Won-per-30-Minute Fee Calculation
Visitors arriving by car can use the Daewangam Park Tower Parking Lot as a reference point. Public parking data lists it at 101 Haesuyokjang 10-gil, Ilsan-dong 901, Dong-gu, Ulsan, with 600 parking spaces. It is listed as operating from 00:00 to 23:59 on weekdays, Saturdays, and public holidays.
According to the Dong-gu District Office public parking fee table, the first 30 minutes cost 500 won. After that, the fees are 200 won within 10 minutes, 400 won within 20 minutes, and 500 won within 30 minutes. The maximum daily fee is 10,000 won. Persons with disabilities and persons of national merit receive a 50% discount, while compact cars and families with multiple children are eligible for a 60% discount. It is advisable to confirm the documentation requirements before entering.

Wheelchair Route from Parking Lot 2 Toward Ulgi Lighthouse and Daewangam
Daewangam Park’s Accessible Tourism information introduces Parking Lot 2 as having designated disabled parking spaces, an accessible walking path, restrooms available for people with disabilities, and upper and lower rest areas. There are eight designated disabled parking spaces, and a safe pedestrian passage has been created from the parking lot into the park.
The Dong-gu District Office identifies the red-clay path on the Central Theme Walking Trail from the park entrance to Ulgi Lighthouse as a wheelchair-accessible section. The route also has a leveled walking surface, handrails and Braille signs on stairs, and a tactile and audio comprehensive tourism information board. Stroller and wheelchair users should therefore choose this route first rather than the stair sections toward the coastal rocks.
