Overview
Gokseong Seomjingang Train Village is a railway-themed tourist attraction created by repurposing the old Gokseong Station and a disused section of the Jeolla Line. Located in Ogok-myeon, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, it recreates an actual steam locomotive once in operation and conveys the atmosphere of old railway culture along with local stories from the Seomjingang River area. As one of Gokseong's representative attractions, it is highly meaningful because visitors can experience both Korea's modern railway heritage and local storytelling. It is a place well worth visiting for foreign travelers who want to see the charm of a small Korean provincial town and a unique railway-themed space.

Best Time to Visit
Gokseong Seomjingang Train Village is best visited in spring and autumn. The weather is mild, making it comfortable to walk around the park and generally pleasant for staying there.
The best time of day is right after opening, during the first time slot. If you especially want to enjoy the steam locomotive at a relaxed pace, going early in the morning is the most practical choice. As the afternoon goes on, more visitors arrive and it can become busier.
A weekday visit is recommended. On weekends and public holidays, there are many family visitors, so it tends to be more crowded. Since this is a popular place with a high annual visitor count, weekday mornings are the best option if you want a quieter atmosphere.
In short, weekday mornings in spring or autumn, preferably at the first entry time, are the most comfortable time to enjoy Gokseong Seomjingang Train Village.
How Long to Stay
If you are just looking around quickly, about 1 to 1.5 hours is enough for the village loop train ride (about 10 to 15 minutes) and the main points of interest. If you include the steam locomotive experience, it usually takes 2 to 3 hours. If you also do the round-trip course including a stop at Gajeong Station and nearby Gokseong attractions, it is better to set aside at least half a day.

Photo Spots
- Square water basin in the center of the theme garden: Located in the center of the theme garden inside the train village. If you stand at the edge of the basin facing the garden and sky directly, it is easy to take reflection photos. Early morning with little wind or around sunset is best.
- Rose Park: A large rose garden within the train village complex. If you shoot from the rose path or in front of the flower beds toward the direction where the flowers spread out widely, the colors will look rich. Early morning has fewer people and softer light, making it good for portraits, while late afternoon is great for capturing a warm mood.
- Around the Ferris wheel: The recently opened Ferris wheel is a landmark visible from far away. If you shoot looking upward from beneath the Ferris wheel or from a slightly distant open area, it gives a strong sense of height and an exotic atmosphere. Sunset is the best time for photos.
- Train exhibition area: This is the area where trains of various colors are gathered. Standing where the side of the train stretches out clearly and shooting along the direction of the tracks creates a strong travel-destination feel. In the morning, the light is relatively soft, and on a clear afternoon, the colors come out vividly.
Night View
Gokseong Seomjingang Train Village is open until 10 p.m. at night, so it is great for enjoying an evening view that feels different from the daytime atmosphere. After sunset, lights come on throughout the village and around the Love Train, creating a more romantic scene.
If you especially want to take photos, a visit between sunset and 9:30 p.m. is recommended. The lighting is most visible, and since it is not too late, you can explore relatively comfortably.
The atmosphere is quiet and romantic, making it good for a light stroll after dinner. For night views, the Love Train near the entrance of the train village is especially popular.
During the Gokseong World Rose Festival, the rose garden is also open until 10 p.m., and with additional nighttime lighting, you can see an even more special night scene. If you visit during the festival season, be sure to include the evening hours in your schedule.
Seasonal Guide
Spring
This is the most popular season. The train village is especially famous for cherry blossoms, and you can also see various spring flowers such as azaleas and pansies. The cherry blossom path and flower decorations blend beautifully, making it great for photography. Since there are many visitors, weekdays are more comfortable than weekends.
Summer
This is the season when the greenery becomes deeper, making it good for outdoor walks and rail bike experiences. The music fountain and play areas also suit family travelers well. It can be hot and humid at midday, so bring a hat, water, and sunscreen.
Autumn
This is the season when the leaves around the Seomjingang River and along the roadside turn beautiful shades of fall colors. With relatively cool weather, it is a great time to ride the steam locomotive and enjoy the river scenery. It is recommended for travelers who want a quieter atmosphere than in spring.
Winter
There are fewer colorful flower scenes, but it is a good time to explore the train village in a calm atmosphere. During the season when winter lighting displays are installed, an evening walk can be even more appealing. Since temperatures are low, prepare warm clothing.
Recommended point
All four seasons offer steam locomotive rides, rail bikes, and walks, but the most impressive times are the spring cherry blossom season and the autumn foliage season.
