Photo Spots
- Hand of Coexistence (sea sculpture): In front of the seaside area of Sunrise Plaza. Walk from the plaza toward the sea and stand so the hand sculpture is directly in front of you. Facing east toward the ocean makes it easy to capture both the hand and the horizon. Right after sunrise is the most famous time, and the morning light shows up beautifully in photos on clear days.
- Hand of Coexistence (land sculpture): In front of the hand sculpture on the land side inside the plaza. Aim your camera toward the sea so that the hand in the water also appears in the background. This is ideal for fitting both hands into one frame, and the light is softer early in the morning or around sunset.
- Sunrise Plaza: Near the center of the large plaza or by the seaside railing. It is good for taking photos of the sea and sculptures together while facing east, or for turning west and taking portrait shots with the plaza atmosphere in the background. Sunrise time is the classic moment, and early morning when there are fewer people is also convenient.
- Around the National Lighthouse Museum: A good spot is an area outside the museum where you can capture lighthouse elements and the sea together. Setting your composition toward the sea creates a clean background. It is easier to take bright, clear photos from late morning to early afternoon.
- Homibando Coastal Trail: A scenic section along the path by the sea. If you place your camera at the edge of the trail facing the coastline, you can get refreshing landscape photos. In the morning, the sea looks clear, and at sunset, it is great for warm-toned photos.
- Around the New Millennium Memorial Hall and Fossil Museum: Good for photographing the building exterior and nearby open spaces. You can take a shot of the building from the front or include the sea direction to create travel record photos. In the afternoon, shadows tend to be less harsh.
Night View
Homigot is relatively bright even at night, making it a good place for a walk and photography. In particular, Homigot Sunrise Plaza and the scenic agriculture complex have night lighting and photo zones, so you can enjoy a seaside view with a different atmosphere from daytime.
The lights are centered around the plaza and main viewing areas, so the overall area is not very dark, and travelers can move around comfortably without separate lighting equipment. The mood is quiet and focused on cool coastal night scenery, making it a nice place for a casual walk or memorial photos.
The recommended time is after the sun has fully set until early night. Since lighting conditions on-site may change later at night, an evening visit is the safest choice.
There is no clearly established permanent night event information, but the lighting display and photo zones themselves are the key points of a nighttime visit. Foreign travelers should note that the wind can be strong, so it is a good idea to bring a light outer layer.
Seasonal Guide
Spring
Homigot is especially popular in spring. In March, the rapeseed flower fields spread widely and are great for photography, and cherry blossoms in the Pohang area begin to bloom between late March and early April. The blooming period varies slightly each year, so it is best to check the latest bloom information before visiting.
Summer
In summer, the coastal scenery and wide-open ocean view are appealing. Rather than the hot daytime hours, a morning or sunset walk is recommended. The sun is strong, so bring a hat, sunscreen, and water.
Autumn
In autumn, the seasonal crop scenery changes, and you can see different landscapes depending on the time of year, such as colored barley, buckwheat, and sunflowers. While it differs from a typical fall foliage destination, it is a great season to enjoy Homigot's unique scenery where fields and the sea blend together.
Winter
In winter, you can feel a calm seaside atmosphere along with a quiet ocean view. The sea breeze is very strong and the temperature is low, so the perceived temperature drops significantly; it is best to prepare a thick coat, gloves, and a scarf. Since winter lighting or special events may vary each year, please also check official tourism information.
Travel tip
The flower and crop scenery may change depending on the weather and cultivation schedule. If you want the most beautiful timing, check local tourism information or recent photos right before your visit.
