Best Time to Visit
Danyanggang Jando is open 24 hours a day, year-round, and admission is free, so you can visit anytime. However, the most recommended seasons are spring and autumn. During these seasons, it is neither too hot nor too cold, so you can comfortably walk the 1.2 km deck trail, and it is easy to enjoy as a simple outing with about 30 minutes one way, or about 1 hour round trip.
It is also possible to visit in summer, but the midday heat can make it feel hotter. In winter, the wind is cold and the surface may be slippery, so caution is needed.
Within the day, early morning or around sunset is the most recommended time to visit. The temperature is relatively comfortable and walking is easier than at midday. From noon to early afternoon, it can be somewhat crowded, especially on weekends and holidays when there are more visitors.
If you want the quietest time, weekday mornings are best. Weekends and public holidays are generally busier and more crowded, while weekdays allow for a more relaxed stroll.
How Long to Stay
If you explore Danyanggang Jando quickly, one way takes about 30 minutes, and usually about 1 hour round trip is enough. If you also visit nearby attractions such as Mancheonha Skywalk, it is good to allow about 2 to 3 hours including travel time.
How to Get There
Danyanggang Jando can be reached from Danyang town by public transportation and on foot. For foreign travelers, it is easiest to travel based on Danyang Station or Danyang Intercity Bus Public Terminal.
By Train
Get off at Danyang Station. To head toward the Jando from the station, walk about 500 m and then move toward Sangjindaegyo Bridge. Before crossing the bridge, use the crosswalk near the city bus stop to cross to the other side. After that, keep walking toward the Jando entrance.
Korea's subway system does not connect directly to Danyang, so if you are departing from Seoul or elsewhere, you would usually take the train. There is no separate subway exit number.
By Bus
Take a city bus from Danyang Intercity Bus Public Terminal and get off at the stop in front of Danyang County Public Health Center. After getting off, walk toward Danyanggang Jando. Since bus intervals may be long, it is a good idea to check the timetable in advance.
On Foot
You can also walk directly from Danyang Station. From the station, head toward the town center and then toward Sangjindaegyo Bridge. If you follow the pedestrian path, you can access the Jando. If you do not have much luggage, walking is also a fine option.
Tip: For foreign travelers, searching the map app for "Danyanggang Jando", "Danyang Station", and "Danyang County Public Health Center" together makes it easier to find the way.
Photo Spots
- Section beside the cliffs: This is the signature photo spot of Danyanggang Jando. Take photos from the edge of the path so that the vertical cliffs and the river appear together. It is good to angle the camera so both the river and the path are visible. From late morning to early afternoon, the path and river appear relatively bright.
- Section with the river visible below your feet: If you take photos where the Namhangang River surface is visible close below the floor, the characteristic of the Jando stands out well. Stand near the railing and shoot down toward the river, or have a companion take a full-body photo from the side. On clear afternoons, the color of the water appears even more vivid.
- Designated photo zone area: The designated photo zones throughout the Jando have well-composed backgrounds, making them the easiest places to take photos. Using the clothing and props available on site can make travel photos feel more special. Morning or around sunset, when the light falls evenly on the face, is good for shooting.
- Long straight section with the deck stretching out: At points where the Jando appears to extend far into the distance, you can get strong perspective shots. Set the camera straight along the direction of the path and take the photo. If you shoot in the early morning when there are fewer people, it is easier to capture a quiet atmosphere.
- Inner section toward Ondal Cave: As you move deeper into the attraction, it becomes relatively quieter, making it good for photos with fewer people in the background. Do not stand with the cliffs behind you; instead, face the direction where the river and Jando are both visible. In the late afternoon, the atmospheric light makes it suitable for natural landscape photos.
Night View
Danyanggang Jando is a good place to enjoy impressive night scenery where the river and rock cliffs come together, with night lighting turned on along the deck trail that runs beside the Namhangang River cliffs. The lighting is installed relatively brightly, making it easy to walk along the path, and there are CCTV cameras in various places, so it is also suitable as a night strolling course.
The most recommended time is from just after sunset until before 11 p.m. During this time, the cliffs, riverside, and deck trail are lit up, creating the best atmosphere, and it is convenient to combine with other night courses in Danyang.
Danyanggang Jando is well known for its night scenery, having been included in the Korea Tourism Organization's 2020 selection of the "100 Night Tourism Spots." Although no special large-scale night event information has been confirmed, the ambient night lighting alone is enough to enjoy a walk and take photos.
