Why a Luge Resort Was Built on 374-metre Gilsangsan Mountain

Ganghwa Seaside Resort Luge is located on Gilsangsan Mountain on the southwestern side of Ganghwa Island in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon. Gilsangsan Mountain is 374 metres high, and the current facility was shaped by using the mountain ridge to combine luge courses with a summit observation area.

The luge track is 1.8 km long in total and operates with two routes: the Ocean Course and the Valley Course. A gondola, rather than a typical ski-resort lift or electric cart, takes visitors to the luge boarding area, so buying a ticket does not mean immediately walking up the mountain path.

Which Route Suits First-Time Riders: the Ocean Course or Valley Course?

The Ocean Course is relatively gentle, allowing riders to travel slowly while enjoying the scenery outside. Those who want to prioritise the view over speed may find it easiest to start with the Ocean Course.

The Valley Course features steep slopes and consecutive bends, including a section that passes through a tunnel after a 360-degree turn. Both courses are included within the total 1.8-km track, but the perceived driving experience differs because of the slopes and turning sections.

2026 Confirmed Prices and Eligible Height and Age Requirements

As confirmed for 2026, adult luge and cable-car fares are KRW 19,000 for one ride, KRW 31,000 for two rides, KRW 38,000 for three rides, and KRW 50,000 for five rides. Rules to Follow on the Track After Putting on a Helmet

The Korea Tourism Organization also recommends taking feeder bus 58 or 59, or seat bus 60-5, from Ganghwa Terminal, getting off at the Ganghwa Luge–Gangnam Trading Company stop, and walking about 340 metres to the resort. Because the stop names are similar, it is safer to enter “Ganghwa Luge Gangnam Trading Company” together in a map app or confirm it with the bus driver.

From the observatory, visitors can see the mountains of Ganghwa, the Yeomha, and the direction of Chojidaegyo Bridge, with views extending from Gimpo toward Incheon’s Cheongna International City, Yeongjongdaegyo Bridge, and Yeongjongdo. Ten Minutes by Car to Oktokki Space Center—and Who It Does Not Suit

Oktokki Space Center is an easy place to combine with a luge visit. It is listed as about 10 minutes away by car from Ganghwa Seaside Resort, so visitors travelling by private car or taxi can connect the two destinations on the same day.

However, infants under 85 cm, visitors aged 65 or older who want to ride with the luge, pregnant people, and those with cardiovascular or spinal-disc conditions cannot use the luge itself. In these cases, plan around the KRW 17,000 round-trip cable-car ticket and the revolving observatory. Customers with limited mobility can use the priority boarding system for the cable car.
