'Ye-seung from Miracle in Cell No. 7'?… 20-year-old Kal So-won causes a stir with a surprise appearance in the audience at Malja Show

Actress Gal So-won, who won tremendous love from the entire nation for her role as young Ye-seung, the daughter of Yong-gu (played by Ryu Seung-ryong) in the film ‘Miracle in Cell No. 7,’ was unexpectedly spotted in the audience of a variety show.

The KBS 2TV variety program ‘Malja Show,’ which aired on the 10th, was organized as a special episode on ‘Parents and Children.’

During the impromptu problem-solving segment, a 26-year-old male audience member who introduced himself as the “world’s second-best cube guy” appeared and shared his concern: “Because I only do cubes, I have no opportunity to meet new people and have no friends.”

When MC Kim Young-hee then asked, “Do you have friends who do cubes with you?” the audience member introduced Gal So-won, who had been sitting in the audience, saying, “That’s why I brought her along.”

The audience stirred at the sight of Gal So-won, who had grown so much, and Kim Young-hee also could not hide her admiration, saying, “You’ve really grown up well.”

Taking the microphone, Gal So-won warmly greeted everyone by saying, “Hello, I’m Gal So-won, formerly Ye-seung,” and revealed that she and the man were “teacher and student.”

She explained their connection, saying, “I came because he brought me along. I learned cubes from him,” and added, “My maternal uncle taught me, so I did it as a hobby. My uncle also ran a cube class and gave private lessons. He came to my uncle’s cube workshop, and we became close as he helped out and so on.”

When asked whether she had any worries of her own, Gal So-won replied, “My concern is that I don’t have many concerns. I’m living my life as though I’m letting water flow,” prompting laughter.

Regarding her signature work from her child-actor days, she also displayed a more mature attitude, saying, “Adults often ask me, ‘Is it burdensome to be trapped in the Ye-seung image?’ But whether you remember me as Ye-seung or as Gal So-won, I’m so grateful that you remember me. I’m simply happy that you remember me at all.”

Meanwhile, Gal So-won, born in 2006, made her debut in the 2012 drama ‘Take Care of Us, Captain,’ and the following year made a strong impression on the public through the film ‘Miracle in Cell No. 7.’ Afterward, she attended middle and high school on Jeju Island while focusing on her studies, and resumed her acting career in Seoul after becoming an adult.

Gal So-won, who has appeared in various productions including MBC’s ‘My Daughter, Geum Sa-wol,’ SBS’s ‘The Legend of the Blue Sea,’ tvN’s ‘Hwayugi,’ JTBC’s ‘Cleaning Up,’ and the Wavve drama ‘Namjoo Search,’ is currently preparing for her next project.
