Why Is Kim Soo-hyun So Thin? His Gaunt Face Spotted at His First Schedule After the Privacy Controversy

Actor Kim Soo-hyun resumed activities overseas, and his thinner face drew attention.

Kim Soo-hyun appeared as a special guest on ‘Mahakarya RCTI 37,’ a live special broadcast marking the 37th anniversary of private broadcaster RCTI, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 23.

Kim Soo-hyun attended an official event for the first time in about one year and five months since controversy surrounding his private life emerged in March last year. He appeared to feel the intense popularity he enjoys locally and passionately sang songs including the OST of the KBS 2TV drama ‘Dream High,’ in which he starred.

Kim Soo-hyun showed a bright smile, but his noticeably gaunt appearance compared with before seemed to reflect the emotional hardship he had endured for a long time. In a video released through the official channel of Indonesian magazine HighEnd on the 24th, his jawline also appeared sharper. Through the video, Kim Soo-hyun asked fans to “look forward to seeing many new sides of me,” raising expectations.

Last year, Kim Soo-hyun faced allegations that he had dated the late Kim Sae-ron from the time she was a minor and pressured her to repay a debt. Kim Soo-hyun’s side acknowledged that he had dated Kim Sae-ron but denied that the relationship began when she was a minor, and countered that the recordings released by her bereaved family had been fabricated using AI.

Kim Soo-hyun’s side filed complaints against the bereaved family and the operators of the YouTube channel Gaseyeon for alleged defamation through the dissemination of false information. The Seongdong Police Station in Seoul recently decided not to forward the cases alleging Kim Soo-hyun’s violation of the Child Welfare Act and false accusation due to insufficient grounds. Kim Se-ui, an operator of Gaseyeon, was indicted under detention on charges including defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization, violation of the Stalking Punishment Act, violation of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, attempted coercion, and threats.
