Jennie Takes #1 on “M Countdown” Without Appearing on TV… Dominating Domestic and International Charts

JENNIE won the No. 1 trophy on a music show without appearing on TV.

Jennie took first place with her new song "Less than a Lover" (Lesseu dan eo reobeo) on Mnet's "M Countdown," which aired on the afternoon of July 30.

"Less than a Lover" has been showing strong performance in the domestic music market, topping the Bugs real-time chart and Apple Music's "Top 100: Korea" chart, while also ranking No. 1 on YouTube Korea's trending music videos.

It also made its presence known on China's three major music platforms. It ranked No. 1 on QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, and Kugou Music. In particular, on QQ Music, it was the only female solo single released this year to receive Gold certification.

On Apple Music's "Top Songs" chart, it reached the upper ranks in many countries and regions, including Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. It also placed highly on Spotify's "Daily Top Songs" chart in several countries and regions, including Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore. It ranked No. 1 on iTunes' "Top Songs" chart in 27 countries and regions, including Vietnam, Chile, Indonesia, and Peru, setting the record for the most No. 1 rankings among K-pop solo tracks released this year.

The music video also drew attention by reaching No. 1 on YouTube Music's Trending Videos Worldwide chart and No. 1 on YouTube Video Trending charts in Korea and the United States.

"Less than a Lover," which Jennie helped write and compose, is a song created while thinking of summer. It captures the excitement and lingering feeling of a relationship that is neither lover nor friend in the phrase "Less than a Lover." It is an alternative pop genre song that paints the romance of a summer night over the laid-back texture of lo-fi guitar and vintage electric keyboard.

Jennie will take the stage at major festivals this August, including Lollapalooza Chicago in the United States and SUMMER SONIC 2026 in Japan.
