HYBE, Why 'BTS Comeback Concert = Gwanghwamun' Was Selected [MK★On-site]

HYBE revealed the reason it chose Gwanghwamun as the venue for Bangtan Sonyeondan's comeback performance.

On the morning of the 20th, a pre-media briefing for Netflix's 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG' was held at Cinecube Gwanghwamun in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

That day, Yoo Dong-ju, HYBE Music Group APAC representative, said, "The question we heard most while preparing for this performance was, 'Why Gwanghwamun?'"

He explained, "The choice of Gwanghwamun is also related to Bangtan Sonyeondan's identity. We thought about what Bangtan Sonyeondan can do. It's a comeback after about four years, and I thought it was a historic moment for the present and future Bangtan Sonyeondan."

He continued, "Chairman Bang Si-hyuk said that if Bangtan Sonyeondan, who started in Korea and became superstars, is to make a comeback, the starting point should be Korea and it should be a symbolic space. In addition, he said that a comeback at an iconic Korean location where fans and the public, Koreans and foreigners alike, raise a toast and enjoy the performance together is a culturally rare experience, and that spreading this globally itself is special."

He added, "We thought Netflix was the most appropriate partner for this project. I am confident this performance is not a simple concert but a historic event."

The 'BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG,' which will take place at around 8:00 p.m. on the 21st in the Gwanghwamun Square area in Seoul, is Netflix's first live event and music performance broadcast from Korea to the world.
