August 21–23: “Seoul Sings with the World,” Connecting Namsan, the Hangang, and Cheonggyecheon

“Seoul Sings with the World” is an outdoor concert where citizens and international visitors participate together through voices and rhythm. It will continue at Namsan Park’s Palgak Plaza at 19:00 on Friday, August 21, 2026; at the Event Plaza of Yeouido Hangang Park at 18:00 on Saturday, August 22; and at Cheonggyecheon Plaza at 18:00 on Sunday, August 23. Since the venue changes each day, the program is arranged so that you can experience Namsan’s elevation, the Hangang’s sense of openness, and Cheonggyecheon’s urban scenery on three different evenings. Event schedule and program information

The stage will feature a cappella arrangements of Beethoven’s “Fate” and Mozart’s “Allegro,” along with the Korean art songs “Spring in My Hometown,” “The Pioneer,” “Cosmos,” and “To the Land of Hope.” BTS’s “Butter” and “Dynamite,” a “Canon and K-Pop Medley,” “Arirang Medley” enhanced with the melodies of the haegeum and gayageum, and “Dondollari” are also scheduled. Audience humming, sing-alongs of art songs, and participation in traditional Korean rhythmic patterns will take place during the program, which will conclude with a chorus of “Holo Arirang” sung by the performers and audience together.

Namsan Palgakjeong, the venue on the first day, is a pavilion on a hill overlooking central Seoul. This creates an expectation that the voices will not remain enclosed within a large concert hall but will seem to spread into the city’s nighttime scenery. Palgakjeong is located at 8-1 Yejang-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, is open year-round, and has restrooms. Korea Tourism Organization information on Namsan Palgakjeong

Three stages connected by Route 01A, Exit 3 of Yeouinaru Station, and Exit 5 of Gwanghwamun Station

The clearest route to Namsan Park’s Palgak Plaza is to take Subway Line 3 to Exit 6 of Dongguk University Station, transfer to Namsan Circular Bus 01A or 01B, get off at the “Namsan Seoul Tower” stop, and walk approximately 328 m. The Palgak Information Center is across from the Namsan Seoul Tower Circular Bus 01 stop. It operates from 10:00 to 18:00 Tuesday through Sunday and lends strollers and wheelchairs free of charge. Yeouido Hangang Park is 213 m from Exit 3 of Yeouinaru Station on Subway Line 5, measured from the park information center. The park is open 24 hours and offers accessible restrooms, parking, walking paths, and information services, making it convenient for travelers who need accessible routes. Throughout Yeouido Hangang Park, four convenience stores, five parking lots, and 24 restrooms are listed. Yeouido Hangang Park facilities information

Cheonggyecheon Plaza is 82 m from Exit 5 of Gwanghwamun Station on Subway Line 5 and 264 m from Exit 4 of City Hall Station on Line 1, making it easy to add an urban walk before or after the 18:00 performance on August 23. In front of the plaza stands “Spring,” a sculpture 20 m high and weighing approximately 9 tons, which is also easy to spot when choosing a meeting place. Access information for Cheonggyecheon Plaza

The event information does not separately state whether the performance will be conducted in English, whether interpretation will be available, or whether English lyrics will be displayed. However, visitors to Namsan Palgakjeong can use tourist information line 1330, available in Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese. As of August 7, 2026, the event information also does not specify admission fees, advance reservations, or on-site payment methods, so it would be wise to check the organizer’s announcements before the first performance on August 21.

  • The Namsan performance starts at 19:00, while the Yeouido and Cheonggyecheon performances start at 18:00, so it would be convenient to familiarize yourself with the route while there is still daylight.
  • Since these are outdoor performances in August, bringing a light jacket, water, and a small umbrella or raincoat will make it easier to stay until evening.
  • At Namsan, consider adding Palgakjeong and the Namsan Beacon Mound to your route; in Yeouido, the riverside walking path and bicycle rental shops; and at Cheonggyecheon, a walk around the Spring sculpture before or after the performance.

Notes on rain, seating, and routes before the 18:00 outdoor chorus

Because the event has not yet taken place, the number of seats, whether admission will be first come first served, advance reservations, operations in rainy weather, admission fees, and the method of conducting the event in English have not been announced separately. In particular, the performances on August 22 and 23 begin at 18:00, so after arriving at the riverside or urban plaza, it would be reassuring to first confirm the stage location, restrooms, and the station for your return journey.

Yeouido Hangang Park’s rules include a ban on cooking, taking your trash home, and slowing down when riding bicycles or inline skates. Failure to take your trash home may result in a fine of 100,000 won, so it is a good idea to bring a small bag for snack packaging and empty water bottles. The Namsan Palgak Information Center is open only from 10:00 to 18:00 Tuesday through Sunday, so rather than expecting to use it just before the 19:00 performance, it is better to check the locations of nearby facilities in advance. Information on using the Namsan Palgak Information Center

Cheonggyecheon Plaza is close to Exit 5 of Gwanghwamun Station, but it is also a point where urban roads and pedestrians meet. When meeting your group, it will be easier to find one another if you choose a visible landmark such as “in front of the Spring sculpture.” If you want to take photographs, capturing the plaza scenery during the brighter period before the performance begins and focusing on audience participation during the performance will create a more natural record.

Three days ending with “Holo Arirang,” for travelers who reach out to the music first

This concert will suit travelers who want to experience Korean art songs, traditional Korean rhythms, a cappella, and audience singing in sequence during one evening, rather than simply listening to K-Pop quickly and moving on. The program flows from familiar songs such as “Butter” and “Dynamite” to the “Arirang Medley” and “Holo Arirang,” so even without perfect knowledge of Korean, you can naturally join the stage through applause and humming.

If you can attend all three performances, see Seoul’s elevated nighttime panorama and the opening stage at Namsan on August 21, linger leisurely by the Hangang on August 22, and conclude on August 23 with a chorus beside the sound of the water in the city at Cheonggyecheon. It seems like an itinerary that will help you remember the city not merely as a list of tourist attractions but as a place where people’s voices come together.
