The venue, Danghangpo Tourist Site, is largely divided into two areas: a dinosaur theme area and an Admiral Yi Sun-sin theme area. There are dinosaur-related attractions such as Dinosaur Hill, the Theme Hall, and the Korean Peninsula Dinosaur Footprint Fossil Hall, while on the opposite side, as the site of the Danghangpo Naval Battle victory, there are historical facilities such as the Turtle Ship Exhibition Hall and the Admiral Chungmugong Diorama Hall. So the appeal of this festival lies in its unusual mix: you come for the dinosaurs and end up getting the story of Yi Sun-sin as a bonus.

A Traveler’s Day: From Tickets to the Last Train

The first thing to secure is admission tickets. Advance reservations for 2026 ran from July 7 to September 21, and because it is the 20th anniversary, there was a separate early-bird special too. During the day, you can catch the main attractions such as the dinosaur parade, circus performances, the robot dinosaur live show, and the giant pterosaur flying overhead. If you’re with kids, you can also join participatory programs like the large fossil excavation experience, dinosaur feeding, and Dino Puzzle. After sunset, the atmosphere changes completely. A night parade follows and ends with a fireworks show. If you get tired from walking, sitting on a bench along the coastal trail and resting while looking out at the sea is part of the laid-back charm of this tourist site.

Things Foreign Travelers Should Know in Advance

To be honest, this festival is not aimed specifically at foreign visitors. It would be hard to expect detailed English guidance or interpretation throughout. Still, because dinosaurs are a theme that transcends language, you can enjoy the parade, exhibitions, and hands-on experiences just fine by watching and following along. If you’re with children, it’s actually a place where you can have fun even without speaking the same language.

As for convenience facilities, there’s a reassuring aspect. Danghangpo Tourist Site was selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as an 'Excellent Open Tourist Site,' and the entire area is connected by barrier-free walking paths. There are also outdoor elevators on sloped sections, accessible restrooms, and tactile guidance signs. That means it’s relatively easy to get around with a stroller or wheelchair.

I confidently recommend it to families with children who love dinosaurs, and to travelers who want to enjoy both a seaside walk along the southern coast and a festival. Because the festival is built on a real fossil-site backdrop, it feels credible, and the unexpected combination of dinosaurs and Yi Sun-sin fills out the day nicely. It’s true that the lack of language guidance is a downside, but in front of dinosaurs, nationality and age don’t seem to matter much. Even if the trip to Goseong is a bit far, you’ll be able to spend a quiet, relaxed autumn day there.
