A 174 m Floating Observation Walkway Created by the Uiamho Landmark Development Project in July 2016

Soyanggang Skywalk is a floating observation facility built along the waterfront of Uiamho near the Statue of the Soyanggang Maiden, at 2663 Yeongseo-ro, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon State. Chuncheon City invested 6.8 billion won to build the facility as part of the Uiamho landmark development project, and it opened on July 1, 2016, along with a completion ceremony.

The total length is 174 m, including a 156 m section of transparent glass through which visitors can see the water below. The walkway stands about 7.5 m above the water and connects to a circular plaza at the end, offering views in one direction of Uiamho, downtown Chuncheon, and Soyang 2 Bridge.

Know About Shoe Covers and Weather Restrictions Before Walking on the 156 m Transparent Glass

Visitors put on the shoe covers provided at the entrance to protect the glass floor. Although the passage appears long, the round-trip route is not extensive, so allowing about 30 minutes to 1 hour, including photography and sightseeing, is sufficient.

Operating hours are 10:00–18:00, and tickets are available until 30 minutes before closing. The facility may close or opening may be delayed during snow, rain, freezing conditions, strong-wind advisories, or maintenance and repairs. On days when rain is forecast, it is safest to call 033-240-1695 before setting out to confirm whether it is operating.

  • Hours: 10:00–18:00, ticket sales end at 17:30
  • Regular closing day: Every Monday
  • Safety conditions: Access may be restricted during rain, snowfall, freezing conditions, strong winds, or facility maintenance

A 2,000-won Admission Ticket Returns as a 2,000-won Chuncheon Sarang Gift Certificate

Admission is 2,000 won per person, and visitors receive a Chuncheon Sarang gift certificate worth the same amount, 2,000 won, when they enter. The gift certificate can be used like cash at shops and traditional markets in downtown Chuncheon, dakgalbi and makguksu restaurants, and stores around the Skywalk, making it convenient for meals or snacks during the day.

Admission is free for people aged 65 or older, preschool children, Chuncheon residents, national merit award recipients, and recipients of National Basic Living Security benefits. Visitors with disabilities in grades 1–3 may bring one accompanying person free of charge, while those in grades 4–6 receive free admission themselves. Identification or supporting documents are required for these discounts and exemptions.

600 Won for 30 Minutes at the Soyanggang Skywalk Public Parking Lot, with Access via the Underground Passage

Drivers can use the Soyanggang Skywalk Public Parking Lot across the road. According to official tourism information, parking costs 600 won for 30 minutes and 1,500 won for 60 minutes. An underground passage connects the parking lot and the facility, allowing visitors to move between them without crossing Yeongseo-ro directly.

After arriving at Chuncheon Station by public transportation, combining a taxi or city bus is convenient. Bus Seomyeon No. 4 is available from the stop near the Skywalk. If you plan to link Chuncheon Station, the Statue of the Soyanggang Maiden, and the Skywalk in one route, check the stop locations and service intervals before departure.

From the Statue of the Soyanggang Maiden to the Ssonggari Sculpture, Chuncheon’s Riverside Left Behind by a Song

The Statue of the Soyanggang Maiden right beside the Skywalk is a landmark representing the sense of place left by the popular 1970s song “Soyanggang Maiden.” The song introduced Chuncheon’s Soyang River to people across the country, and today the Skywalk forms a short sightseeing route along the Uiamho waterfront together with the song monument, statue, and riverside walking area.

Rather than being a bridge crossing the main stream of the Soyang River, the Skywalk is an observation facility extending over Uiamho. The route turns back at the circular plaza in front of the fish sculpture at the end, so visiting the Statue of the Soyanggang Maiden first allows you to connect the statue, song monument, glass walkway, and lake views in one direction.

Take Strollers Only to the Entrance and Plan the Route with a Companion if Using a Wheelchair

Official accessibility information indicates that the site has ramps, dedicated disabled parking spaces, accessible restrooms, an accessible elevator, wheelchair rentals, tactile maps, and audio guidance. On the public parking lot side, a rest area for bicycle travelers offers men's and women's restrooms, a diaper-changing table, showers, bicycle racks, and a water dispenser.

However, strollers and wheelchairs cannot enter the Skywalk itself, and the facility is classified as requiring a companion according to the visitor information. The underground passage elevator and ramps can be used for transit, but if experiencing the glass walkway is your main goal, it is practical to visit with a companion who can walk.

  • Accessibility facilities: Ramps, accessible parking, accessible restrooms, elevator, and wheelchair rentals
  • Guidance: Tactile maps and audio guidance available
  • Restriction: Strollers and wheelchairs cannot enter the Skywalk
  • Inquiries: 033-240-1695

Enter Before Sunset and See the Night View of Soyang 2 Bridge: Choosing the 30 Minutes Before the 18:00 Closing

The main appeal here is not the glass floor itself but the structure stretching out over the water and the surrounding views. Visiting late on a clear afternoon makes it easy to enjoy both the changing light over Uiamho and the scenery toward Soyang 2 Bridge. However, regular operations end at 18:00 and ticket sales end at 17:30, so on days when the seasonal sunset is late, arriving late expecting only a night view may mean that you cannot enter.

Reports from when it opened in 2016 mentioned nighttime lighting operations, but for current travel plans, it is safest to use the officially announced hours of 10:00–18:00 as the standard. Nighttime lighting and special operating hours are not permanent conditions, so confirm by phone if you plan to visit in the evening on a specific date.
