The Muchangpo Mystery Sea Road Festival will be held from September 11 to September 13, 2026, around 805-4 Gwandang-ri, Ungcheon-eup, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do, and admission is free (some programs require payment). The bare-handed giant shrimp and fish-catching activity and the seafood cooking class accept registrations on-site, so advance reservations are not required. The 2026 schedule includes a free seafood cooking class and the Sea Road multimedia drone light show on September 12, while the 25th-anniversary event guide in 2025 classified the Seafood Party Zone and children's activity booth as paid attractions. If you want to enjoy both the 1.5 km sea road torch experience and the drone show, plan your visit around September 12, 2026.

On September 12, 2026, the LED torches and drone show overlap

The operating hours on September 12, 2026, are 10:00–22:00. On this day, LED torches will be distributed in the sea road experience area, and the Sea Road multimedia drone light show and sea road torch experience are scheduled together.

The first day, September 11, 2026, runs from 13:00 to 21:00. The opening ceremony and the madang play “Muchangpo, the Giant Shrimp Is Sold to the Highest Bidder~” will be held at Muchangpo Square, along with the Sea Road Picnic Festa performances featuring three busking teams and one singer. Operating hours on September 13, 2026, are 10:00–17:00, and the published schedule lists the same madang play and the bare-handed giant shrimp and fish-catching activity.

The sea road torch experience in the 25th-anniversary event guide for 2025 was scheduled for September 20, but in 2026 it is set for September 12. In 2025, the giant shrimp and gizzard shad-catching activity cost 10,000 won per session, and the Seafood Party Zone and children's activity booth were classified as paid attractions. In 2026, a free, on-site seafood cooking class has been added, so the cost structure is different.

Plan separately for traveling from 805-4 Gwandang-ri to the 1.5 km sea road

At Muchangpo Beach, a roughly 1.5 km sea road is revealed by the tidal difference toward Seokdaedo, providing the festival's natural stage. The event address is around 805-4 Gwandang-ri, Ungcheon-eup, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do, and the main venues are divided between Muchangpo Square and the Beach Square.

The transportation options and travel time from the nearest major city to the event venue, the names of nearby stations and terminals, walking distances, and bus route numbers cannot currently be confirmed from the published materials. Information about whether a temporary shuttle will operate in 2026, traffic controls, the location of temporary parking lots, and parking fees has also not been finalized, so plan your route by entering the address into a map app first.

The 2026 operating hours are September 11, 13:00–21:00; September 12, 10:00–22:00; and September 13, 10:00–17:00. Since last-train information is unavailable, if you stay until the 22:00 schedule on September 12, plan on not being able to make a same-day round trip by public transportation.

The 10,000-won shrimp-catching activity and free cooking class divide your travel itinerary

From September 11 to 13, 2026, the bare-handed giant shrimp and fish-catching activity will be held every day at the Beach Square, with a participation fee of 10,000 won. Registration is on-site, so participants must first find the registration desk at the Beach Square.

On September 12, 2026, a free seafood cooking class will be held on the special stage at Muchangpo Square, with on-site registration. Three singers are scheduled for the Sea Road Picnic Festa that day, but the performers have not yet been announced. The September 11 performance is scheduled to feature three busking teams and one singer.

A Seafood Party Zone and a local specialty market operate regularly at Muchangpo Square, along with statue performances and Pierrot art balloon activities. You can also find shell candle-making, shell flowerpot-making, “Reusing Marine Waste,” and a seven-zone marine ecology playground at the same location.

The 2025 price for the 25th-anniversary Seafood Party Zone has not been confirmed. The 2026 Seafood Party Zone prices, whether cards, mobile payments, or cash only will be accepted, and the locations of restrooms, luggage storage, and rest areas have not been published.

The madang play “Muchangpo, the Giant Shrimp Is Sold to the Highest Bidder~” is easier to understand for visitors who know Korean, given its Korean title and performance format. By contrast, although the sea road torch experience and drone light show are primarily visual, visitors still need to follow on-site instructions, and it has not been confirmed whether English guidance or interpretation will be available in 2026.

Check the 22:00 return from Muchangpo and unpublished information before departing

The performers and performance times for the three singers on September 12, 2026, have not yet been finalized, and the detailed times for the opening ceremony, madang play, and giant shrimp-catching activity have not been published. The operating hours for September 12 are listed as 10:00–22:00, so if you are aiming to see the drone show and torch experience, check the detailed times separately.

Operating, cancellation, and refund policies in case of rain in 2026 have not been confirmed. Neither has accessibility for wheelchairs and strollers along the approximately 1.5 km sea road and in the nighttime LED torch area. Travelers who prefer a quiet visit may find the concentration of performances, the drone show, and the torch experience on September 12 overwhelming, while travelers who have difficulty returning late may find the schedule ending at 22:00 unsuitable.

As this event is hosted by Boryeong City and the Boryeong Festival & Tourism Foundation, call 041-930-0891 before departure to confirm the detailed times for September 12, rainy-weather operations, English guidance, and wheelchair and stroller accessibility, and decide whether you need accommodation.
