"Space Cafe" Appears on the Namcheon Riverside — Gyeongsan on the Last Weekend of June
Gyeongsan is a city right next to Daegu. So, if you are traveling in Daegu like I was, it is perfect for squeezing in a day trip. This time I visited the 2026 Gyeongsan Cafe Festival. The Gyeongsan Cultural Tourism Foundation will hold the main event along the Namcheon riverside from Saturday, June 27 to Sunday, June 28. It is called a "cafe festival," but the real highlight is after sunset. The "Starlight Night Cafe" will grandly open along the riverbank, and it is a night-focused festival featuring acoustic busking.
There is a reason Gyeongsan holds its cafe festival at this time of year. The seasonal fruit "Shinbi Peach," which can only be enjoyed for a little over two weeks each year, reaches its sweetest ripeness right around then. So the limited-edition drinks and desserts combining fragrant coffee and sweet peaches are the true stars of this festival. Just imagining walking along the riverside on a summer night with a peach latte in hand is delightful.

A "No-Queue Festival" — Pre-order with the Baemin app and pick up
There is one important thing to know first about this festival: the payment and ordering system. It is the first local-government festival to fully adopt the Baedal Minjok O2O system. In other words, instead of waiting in long lines in front of the drink booths on a hot day, you can pre-order food and drinks through the Baemin app and pick them up at the dedicated "delivery zone." I think this is a surprisingly big advantage for foreign travelers. You do not have to sweat while struggling to order in Korean while standing in line; you can just look at the photos in the app and choose what you want.
That said, the Baemin app is generally easier to use if you have a Korean mobile number and a domestic payment method. If using the app is difficult, you can also order directly at the on-site booths. Shinbi Peach sales booths operate from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on both festival days. Since this is a night festival, crowds gather from around 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. after sunset, so if you are aiming for popular desserts, it is better to go a little earlier.
For reference, starting on June 24, three days before the festival opens, the Baemin B Mart will also run the "Gyeongsan Shinbi Peach Nationwide Special Promotion." This means you can even have peaches delivered to your accommodation within an hour while staying in Gyeongsan, so if you miss out on buying them at the venue, you can make use of that.
A Day for Foreign Travelers — From Gyeongsan Station to the Riverside
Let me lay out the route first. If you are staying in Daegu, it is really easy. Thanks to the Daegyeong Line wide-area railway, opened in December 2024, you can reach Gyeongsan Station quickly by train from Dongdaegu Station or Daegu Station. If you take a Mugunghwa train, it takes less than 10 minutes from Dongdaegu Station to Gyeongsan Station. From Gyeongsan Station to the main venue at the Namcheon riverside, you can take a taxi or bus. The Namcheon walking path is the stream that flows between Gyeongsan Station and Jeongpyeong Station on Daegu Metro Line 2, so the riverside promenade itself is well maintained.
Since this is a nighttime event, be sure to plan your return route in advance. The main stage program continues late into the night, but the last train time is earlier than you might expect. If you plan to stay late, I recommend installing a taxi app such as Kakao T from the start. Demand for late-night taxis back to downtown Daegu may spike.
For clothing, just keep in mind that this is a summer night by the river. It is hot during the day, but after sunset the river breeze is cool, and you will be walking quite a bit on the promenade, so sneakers are comfortable. Late June can overlap with the rainy season, so bringing a small umbrella or raincoat will put your mind at ease.

Not Just the Riverside — A Festival That Continues to 20 Cafes in the City
Here is one interesting aspect of the festival. After the main riverside event ends on June 29, the stage moves to 20 designated cafes in downtown Gyeongsan until July 1. The cafe visit program begins on June 27, and participating cafes offer a 10% discount on coffee and desserts, plus you can join a stamp tour. Each cafe develops and sells its own drinks and desserts using Shinbi Peach, so the menus differ from shop to shop, which makes comparison fun.
The main riverside program includes side events such as the "Romantic Retro LP Dabang," which takes stories and song requests, the acoustic busking performance "Starlight Live Music Concert," a children's art contest, and a barista competition. Even if you do not know difficult Korean, you can still enjoy listening to the music and soaking in the atmosphere. For the OX quiz and peach sales events, which are conducted in Korean, it is enough to follow along by observing the people around you.
Things to Know in Advance, and Who It Is Recommended For
Let me point out a few more things. First, there is no separate information about an admission fee. However, drinks, desserts, and peaches are purchased individually, so it is a good idea to prepare cash or a Baemin app payment method. Second, since this is an outdoor riverside festival, convenience facilities such as restrooms and storage will rely on temporary installations at the venue. Because it is hot, bringing water in a tumbler is also a good idea. Third, confirmed information about foreigner-only guidance such as English interpretation or multilingual apps is limited. So I recommend having a translation app installed.
In short, this is perfect for people who like a calm summer night rather than flashy fireworks — a night spent listening to music by the river while slowly enjoying coffee and seasonal peaches. I recommend it to anyone visiting Daegu who wants to spend one evening experiencing the atmosphere of a quieter regional city. The fresh experience of ordering through an app without waiting in line is a bonus.
