[Sports Seoul | Reporter Park Chan-hyeong] K-pop artists adorned the stage at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North and Central America, capturing the attention of football fans around the world.
Lisa, a member of the group Blackpink, took the stage at the U.S. opening ceremony held on the 12th (local time) at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, United States, and delivered a powerful performance.
Lisa performed "Goals," a track from the official World Cup album, together with Brazilian singer Anitta and Nigerian artist Rema. In particular, Lisa, who opened the stage, appeared in a white outfit and heated up the atmosphere on site with a flawless live performance and dazzling choreography.
Lisa, who moved across the field with numerous dancers, displayed an overwhelming presence and showed the charisma of a global star. This is the first time a K-pop girl group member has delivered a live performance on the World Cup opening ceremony stage.

The day before, another K-pop artist had also taken the spotlight at Estadio Mexico City in Mexico City, Mexico.
Singer-songwriter Lee Jae performed the World Cup official theme song "DNA" together with world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli. Lee Jae, who appeared on stage in a blue halter-neck dress, drew cheers from the audience with explosive vocal power.
In particular, the inclusion of Korean lyrics in which Lee Jae directly participated drew attention. The lyric "Even if I fall again, I rise again" echoed before football fans around the world and delivered a deep resonance.
As Lisa's performance and Lee Jae's Korean-language singing followed one after another, this World Cup opening ceremony is being praised as a stage that once again confirmed K-pop's global influence.
Meanwhile, after Lisa ended her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment last year, she has continued her independent activities, while Blackpink's full-group activities are still being carried out together with YG Entertainment. Lee Jae recently participated in work on the soundtrack for the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters OST, further expanding her presence in the global music market.
In addition, BTS is reportedly scheduled to take the stage at the halftime show of this North and Central America World Cup final, and the World Cup success of K-pop is expected to continue beyond the opening ceremony all the way to the tournament's final moment.
