Previously, on the 8th at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards, Shin Se-kyung received the Female Supporting Actress Award in the film category for the movie "HUMINT." However, right after the ceremony, a fellow actor's acceptance remarks became controversial, and she was drawn into unwanted gossip.

This happened because veteran actor Lee Sung-min, who had hoped that an actor from the same work would win, said during his remarks, "I was even cursing inside because Hye-ran didn't get it." That comment led to criticism that it showed a lack of consideration for Shin Se-kyung, who had fairly taken home the trophy, and sparked debate online.

Regarding Lee Sung-min's remark, netizens split into those defending it as a "joke born of camaraderie" and those criticizing it as "a rude attitude that belittles a junior's award on a public stage." As the controversy intensified, director Park Chan-wook and Yum Hye-ran tried to calm the atmosphere at the scene, but Shin Se-kyung's fans expressed regret that what should have been an entirely celebratory moment had been dulled.
